Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of Jaar. By creating an account or using the app, you agree to them. They are written in plain English because this is a neighborhood app, not a prospectus.

1.Using Jaar

• You must be at least 13 years old to create an account.
• You are responsible for your account, your password, and any activity under your account.
• One person, one account. Don't impersonate other neighbors or businesses.

2.Your Content

• You own the drops, photos, and comments you post.
• By posting, you grant Jaar a non-exclusive, worldwide license to display, cache, and distribute your content inside the Jaar app and website so neighbors can see it.
• Do not post spam, fake deals, hateful content, or anything you do not have the right to share.

3.Community Guidelines

• Post real deals you have actually seen at a real store.
• Do not manipulate votes — no sockpuppets, no coordinated upvoting.
• No outbound links, affiliate codes, or referral spam in drops or comments.
• Respect your neighbors. Disagreement is fine; harassment is not.

4.Business Accounts

• Business accounts must represent a real, operating business at a verifiable address.
• Business access is currently invite-only. We verify ownership before your storefront goes live.
• Promos you publish must be honorable at the register. Knowingly posting a fake promo is grounds for immediate removal.

5.Subscriptions

• Jaar Pro — $49/month. Unlimited business drops and storefront features.
• Jaar Pro+ — $149/month. Everything in Pro, plus priority placement and deeper analytics.
• Cancel anytime from your business settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
• We do not issue partial refunds for unused portions of a billing period.

6.Jaar Pass & Creator Payouts

• When a neighbor redeems a Jaar Pass offer, the creator bounty is 70% to the poster and 30% to Jaar.
• The minimum payout is $5. Below that, your earnings stay in your balance.
• Payouts are processed through Stripe Connect. You will need to complete Stripe onboarding (identity and bank information) to withdraw.

7.Prohibited Conduct

• No automated bots, scrapers, or mass account creation.
• No spam, phishing, or malicious content.
• No harassment, threats, or targeted abuse of other users.
• Do not circumvent our verification, rate limits, or content moderation systems.

8.Termination

• We may suspend or ban accounts that violate these terms or our community guidelines.
• You can delete your account at any time from Settings. Your drops and comments are removed or anonymized on deletion.

9.Disclaimer

Deals on Jaar are posted by community members. We do our best to moderate, but prices, availability, and terms change fast. Always verify the deal at the store before relying on it. Jaar is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind.

10.Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Jaar and its team are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid Jaar in the twelve months preceding the claim.

11.Changes

We may update these terms from time to time. If changes are material, we'll notify you in the app or by email. Continued use of Jaar after the change means you accept the updated terms.
